SHARON OWEN, 74, of Waterford (formerly of Sandusky), died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac.

Sharon Anne Kaake was born October 9, 1943, in Highland Park, to the late Charles Arthur and the late Rose (O’Malley) Kaake. She grew up in Imlay City and is a 1961 graduate of Imlay City High School. She married Donald Owen on June 9, 1961 in Imlay City. Sharon was preceded in death by Don in June 2013.

She was mostly a homemaker, doing a great job raising her family. Sharon worked outside the home at various times: as a cashier for Montgomery Ward in Waterford, a bank teller for Community National Bank in Drayton Plains, MI for 10 years, and as an in-home care provider in Defiance, Ohio from 1988 until 1993.

Sharon was an avid reader. She liked needlepoint, ceramics, camping, traveling, and making macramé chairs. She and Don also liked to bowl and were on a bowling league.

She was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Waterford and was very involved in the church, volunteering whenever she could at various functions.

Sharon is survived by one daughter, Cindy Villanueva of Waterford; three sons, Martin (Angie) Owen of Chapin, SC, Michael Alan Owen of Imlay City and Donny (Leanna) Owen of Livonia; one brother, Colin Kaake of Attica; and eleven grandchildren, Melissa, Madison, Makayla, Samantha, Avery, Erin, Brendan, Jonah, Emily, Madison and Abigail.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kaake; three sisters, Betty Tietz, Patricia Matthews and Rosemary Pfahl; and two brothers, Charles Kaake and Jack Kaake.

The funeral will be held 1 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. Pastor Matthew Osborne, with Sandusky First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 11 and 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, January 12 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
