North Branch High School senior dies in car crash

DEERFIELD TWP. — A North Branch High School senior died Thursday morning in a two-car accident on Burnside Road near Booth Road.

North Branch Area Schools Superintendent Jim Fish released a brief statement saying that Adrianna Phouvone had died in the traffic accident this morning. Counselors were made available to help students cope with the tragic loss of one of their classmates.

Undersheriff Jeremy Howe said while the fatal crash remains under investigation, road conditions do not appear to have been a factor.

Phouvone, Howe said, was headed east on Burnside Road in a 2007 Pontiac G5 when her vehicle crossed the road to the north shoulder and then apparently over corrected. She ended up broadside to the roadway and a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 57-year-old Clifford woman, struck the G5 on the driver’s door.
